Architectural engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the planning, designing, and operation of buildings. Architectural engineers work with Architects to combine engineering with aesthetics, working on details such as colour schemes and layout, to create beautiful but functional and sustainable structures that are structurally viable. An architectural engineer must incorporate his or her knowledge and understanding of science, math, and technology to the buildings they design. An architectural engineer has many tasks and responsibilities, such as deciding how deep the foundations need to be, what materials are required for a given structure, or the amount of support a structure needs to be stable. An architectural engineer must be well-versed in all the aspects of a good building in order to take on the challenge of combining all of a building’s parts into one cohesive, stable, and aesthetically pleasing masterpiece.
